California Vacation: Day 1

Day 1:  Driving and Driving some more

We decided that we would just do it!  We would use our tax refund and take the family to Disneyland.  This year was the perfect year for our family to go (especially since we will have a new little one next year).

We drove the long road to California and I must say I was very impressed with how well the kids did.  There was very little fighting, and very little complaining.  They were kept busy by word searches, coloring books, writing pages and movies.  We did make several stops along the way....but not many.

Our first stop was in Beaver for Breakfast and our second stop was in Vegas.  We thought it would be fun to take the kids to the top of the stratosphere and let them look off.

It was a beautiful day.  We parked at a local parking lot, got all the kiddos out and began the short walk to the Stratosphere.  Can I just say that:  A) Vegas is much cooler at night, and  B) I forgot how much inappropriate material lay scattered on the sidewalks.  As we were walking my boy's heads were getting closer and closer to the ground.  "Eeeew  Mom!  I can see that girls bum!", Cole said.  Quickly thereafter we had a rule that their eyes were to be straight ahead and nowhere else.

When we finally reached the Stratosphere we realized that it would cost over $70.00 for our family to just go on top and look out the window.  We easily decided that looking out some windows was not worth that much....but hey @ least we got to stretch our legs.

We finally reached Embassy Suites at about 7pm.  Just in time for their free in-house snacks and drinks.  We explored the Hotel, saw their fish and live turtles in the center of the hotel, made sure we knew where the pool was, and then......hit the pillows.
This is a picture of Kip and the Kids standing on the bridge located in the center of the Hotel.  Its a little blurry; the kids did not want to stand still after all that driving.
